Books

Living Well With Hypothyroidism by Mary Shomon-This is my thyroid bible. It was the first book I read after diagnosis and I learned so much from Mary Shomon’s book and website. It is absolutely full of great information and resources.

Stop the Thyroid Madness: A Patient Revolution Against Decades of Inferior Treatment by Janie A. Bowthorpe, M.D.-This book chronicles the inferior treatment by doctors not willing to learn and discusses how to be your best advocate.

Be Your Own Thyroid Advocate: When You’re Sick and Tired of Being Sick and Tired by Rachel Hill-I really like the author’s style in being honest and open with her experiences with hypothyroidism. Very empowering!

Thyroid Power: Ten Steps to Total Health by Richard Shames and Karilee H. Shames-This one is an older book but has a lot of great information about thyroid disease.
